Painting and etching on film
This is a technique for creating animation without the use of camera.
All the motion is drawn and painted directly on the film. Animation can be painted on each and every frame or colors and lines can exceed frames and be applied all over the film length.
Len Lye and Norman McLaren created beautiful artistic animations with this technique. In some of his animations McLaren even painted the sound channel of the film, producing sound without recording it.
